Ben Beaumont

Ben Beaumont, born in England 1940, is an English Barrister and Chartered Surveyor.

Ben Beaumont attended The King's School, Canterbury from 1953-1958. He co-founded the Dickensian Housing Association in 1970 with Michael Twigg of Twigg Brown Architects and colleagues from Davis Belfield and Everest. He studied law in 1974 at the Former Council of Legal Education in Holborn and was called to the Bar at Inner Temple in July 1978.

In 1977 he joined the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; he became a Fellow in 1980. He was elected to the Council of that body in 1982 and was continuously reelected until 1998. He was founder Chair of the Thames Valley branch. He served upon the membership, education, public relations and executive committees of the Institute. His first appointment as arbitrator came in 1980. Since that time he has received more than 130 domestic and international appointments. He is a Panel member of WIPO and CIETAC. He has taught arbitration and trained Arbitrators under the banners of the CIArb, AMINZ and the HKIA . He has also taught at various universities including Imperial College London and Oxford Brookes as well as various Universities outside the UK.

He co-founded the Forum for International Conciliation and Arbitration (FICACIC) in 1998.

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in 2000. He attended Oxford Polytechnic to study BSc Estate Management, graduating in 1985. Subsequently he worked with Professors Ian Bentley and Graham Smith of the Department of Architecture on an award winning (Times/RIBA Community Award for Partnership 1991, Civic Trust Award 1994) project in Angell Town, Brixton.

He has written and co-written various notable books relating to arbitration including Arbitration and Rent Review now in its 3rd edition.

He was elected a member of the Athenaeum Club in 1982.
