Upon realignment, the unit moved to Hurlburt Field, Fla. The squadron also took on the mission of the 67th IG’s Detachment 1, as it was deactivated during the reorganization. The Air Force approved changing the squadron’s name from the 39 IS to the 39th Information Operations Squadron September 1, 1999, to better reflect its new and expanded mission set.
