Princeton Footnotes

The Princeton Footnotes is a traditional all-male a cappella group from Princeton University in Princeton, NJ [http://www.collegiate-acappella.com/CA-DirectoryH-R.html] . The Footnotes is a student-run, semi-professional performing group. They are a part of Princeton University's "arch-rotation" a cappella organization, which includes the Nassoons, Tigertones, Katzenjammers, Roaring Twenty, Tigerlillies, Wildcats, and Tigressions.

The Princeton Footnotes were founded in 1959 by a small group of male college students from the Princeton University Glee Club. These students broke away from the Glee Club to found the third a cappella singing group on campus. The Footnotes began singing as entertainment for Glee Club parties, and soon began to make appearances at Glee Club performances, Princeton University eating clubs, and colleges along the East Coast.

Since 1959, the Princeton Footnotes' music ranges from contemporary pop to jazz, ballads, spiritual and barbershop. Every Footnote song was arranged by a member of the group and passed down through generations of Footnotes.

The Footnotes came in third in the National Collegiate A Cappella Championship Semi Final in 2000. The group was also recognized by the Contemporary A Cappella Society through their selection of the Footnotes' rendition of "Boogie Down" for their "Best of College A Cappella Vol.1" album [http://www.varsityvocals.com/boca/bocadisc.html] .

In recent years, the Footnotes have sung at venues ranging from Yankee Stadium, the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, the American Ambassador's Residence in London, and the Presidential Inaugural Ball for former President George H. W. Bush in Washington, D.C. The Footnotes go on three tours a year. The group has toured extensively within the United States, and have ventured abroad to Italy, the Bahamas, Mexico, Great Britain, and the Caribbean. They have performed for George Bush at the White House, Lee Iacocca at Chrysler (who gave them a free minivan), and the New Jersey Lottery.
