The Smiths Indeed

The Smiths Indeed is a tribute band dedicated to The Smiths. The band is from Liverpool in the North West of England.

Background

The band were formed in 2005. They played their first show in Glasgow in December 2005 and they quickly gained a reputation for excellent live shows. They have so far played multiple extensive UK tours, as well as some European dates, selling out numerous venues. The band strive to re-create the experience of seeing a mid 1980s Smiths concert, including not only the sound, but also the wardrobe, attitude, stage show and various accoutrements.

The Smiths Indeed name is taken from the run-out grooves etching on the vinyl of the 1984 Smiths single Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now. A legendary Smiths fanzine called Smiths Indeed also existed between 1986 & 1989 [ [http://www.morrissey-solo.com/article.pl?sid=06/03/07/1757226 Morrissey-solo | Smiths Indeed is back! ] ] .

The musicians are culled from various well-known Liverpool-based bands such as The Christians, Pete Wylie and Maudlin Rich.

In September 2006, their singer survived a horrific drive-by attack on the streets of Toxteth.
