Bambusa is a large genus (about 37 species) of clumping bamboos.[1] These species are usually giant ones, with numerous branches at a node and one or two much larger than the rest. They are found in tropical and subtropical areas of Asia, especially in the monsoon and wet Tropics.


This genus has been brought into synonymy with Dendrocalamopsis (L.C.Chia & H.L.Fung) Keng.f..
