"Burnside" is a British television police procedural, broadcast on ITV in 2000. The series, a spin-off from ITV's long-running police drama "The Bill", focused on DCI Frank Burnside, formerly a detective at Sun Hill and now working for the National Crime Squad (NCS). "Burnside" ran for one series of six episodes, structured as three two-part stories.

The series' lead character was the eponymous Detective Chief Inspector Frank Burnside. The character of Burnside had appeared on "The Bill" from its first episodes, only to disappear mysteriously in 1993, only to return briefly five years later in 1998, where it was revealed that he had been working undercover. The main secondary characters were Detective Sergeant Dave Summers (Justin Pierre) and Detective Constable Sam Phillips (Zoe Eeles).

Burnside's NCS team also included the minor characters of DC Pete Moss (John White) and DC Chris Gibson (Paul Gilmore), although Moss and Gibson appeared on screen much less than the central characters of Summers and Phillips.cite book |title=Policing and the Media: Facts, Fictions and Factions |last=Leishman |first=Frank |authorlink= |coauthors=Paul Mason |year=2003 |publisher=Willan Publishing |location=London |isbn=190324028X |pages=pp 77-78 ]

In addition, several recurring characters appeared throughout the series: Paul Nicholas played Ronnie "The Razor" Buchan, a former London gangster and Burnside's nemesis. Tony Selby played Jim Summers, the father of Dave Summers and Burnside's former boss. Shane Richie played Burnside's regular informant, Tony Shotton.
