"Burnside" is a British
television police procedural, broadcast on ITVin 2000. The series, a spin-offfrom ITV's long-running police drama " The Bill", focused on DCI Frank Burnside, formerly a detective at Sun Hilland now working for the National Crime Squad(NCS). "Burnside" ran for one series of six episodes, structured as three two-part stories.
The series' lead character was the eponymous Detective Chief Inspector
Frank Burnside. The character of Burnside had appeared on " The Bill" from its first episodes, only to disappear mysteriously in 1993, only to return briefly five years later in 1998, where it was revealed that he had been working undercover.
