Iranian hip hop is hip hop music from Iran.

The first group to release an Iranian Rap album was the Los Angeles based group Sandy in the mid 1990s. The new wave of Iranian Hip Hop artist include Deev, who introduced Political Hip Hop to Iranians with is song "Dasta Bala", followd by Zedbazi who worked on Gangster Rap with their song "Mehmoni" (writen on top of the 50 cent anthem "In the Club"), Hich-Kas who wrote about Tehran (021 area code) and Erfan who introduced Poetic Hiphop to Iranians starting with his song "Shosteshoo".

With the introduction of satellite television in Iran in the early 1990s and world wide recognition of hip hop and its American artists such as 2pac, NWA and Eminem and hiphop found an explosive following among the Iranian youth (mostly born after the Islamic Revolution of 1979). They started paying attention to the beats and rhythmic lyrics present in hip hop and eventually turned to creating this genre of music in Persian. Soon they turned from rap enthusiasts to poets and rap producers, bringing to light how they saw life as Iranians and what they wanted from the world. They used it as a means of self expression, creating such artists as Daad, Deev, Erfan, Hich Kas, Zed Bazi, A2 who each adding their own flavor to Persian hip hop.
