Metro-North Railroadstation serves the residents of Fairfield, Connecticut, including students of Fairfield University— as well as nearby areas such as Black Rock within the city of Bridgeport — via the New Haven Line. It is one of two stations in the town; the other being Southport. The station is the transfer point for the Fairfield UniversityShuttle.

The station has 1,216 parking spaces, 376 owned by the state. The main station house is wooden and on the eastern platform. It contains a ticket window. Southbound trains stop on this side of the station. The station house on the west side is made of brick and entirely filled with busniusses, including the Nauti Dolphin Pizza restaurant. Northbound trains stop at this side of the station. There is an overpass containing a fairly busy road that passes over the northern end of the station. In order to get from the Southbound Platform to the Northbound Platform, and vise versa, passengers must climb a staircase to this overpass and walk on the road's sidewalk across the tracks. Then, they must decend another staircase on the other side.
