Southwestern Oklahoma State University is a public university in Weatherford, Oklahoma, U.S.A. Southwestern Oklahoma State operates a branch campus in Sayre, Oklahoma. The university was originally named Southwestern Normal School by the Oklahoma Territorial Legislature when it was established in 1901. Southwestern Oklahoma State's athletic teams participate in the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference. The team mascot is the bulldog, and the school colors are blue gray and white.

The current president of SWOSU is Dr. John Hays, and the student body president is Greg Franklin of Midwest City, Oklahoma.

SWOSU is one of seven state regional universities in the state of Oklahoma.
