Cardiac ectopy or "ventricular extra beats" is a disturbance of the
electrical conduction system of the heartin which beats arise from the wrong part of the heart muscle. It is a form of cardiac arrhythmiain which ectopic foci in the ventricular myocardium, or from finer branches of the electric transduction system, cause additional beats of the heart. Some medicationmay worsen the condition. It does not usually need to be treated medically.
