Richard Wilkins (TV presenter)
Richard Stephen Wilkins (born
19 June 1954in New Zealand) is a televisionpresenter on "Today" on the Nine Network.
New Zealand, Wilkins had graduated from teacher's college, majoring in English and Music. Wilkins (or Richard Wilde, as he was then known) became one of New Zealand's top pop stars and PolyGramsigned him to a world-wide deal [ [http://today.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=172301 Richard Wilkins ] ] .
In 1980, he brought his band "Wilde And Reckless" to
Australiaand released some singles and a six track EP and toured with Grace Jones. He left the music stage to work behind the scenes as Promotions and Marketing Manager for Sydney radio stations 2Day FMand 2UW (which is now known as Mix 106.5), when he then moved to television.
Wilkins currently has a career in Australian television for the
Nine Network, which in the past has seen him as the original host of the original Australian series of MTVwhen it was broadcasted on Nine, hosted a game showcalled Keynotesin 1992. Keynotes at the time was a summertime replacement for Sale of the Century. Around the same period, he was a reporter on the now-defunct Australian version of " Entertainment Tonight".
Most recently he is seen on the "Today Show" as a field reporter and is the summertime replacement for
Karl Stefanovicas co-host with Lisa Wilkinson. He also presents the Logie AwardsPreshow, Reports from the New Years Eve fireworksin Sydneyand reports at international award shows like the Golden Globe Awards.
2007, on the 16 Aprilepisode of the "Today Show", he was paid tribute for his 20 years service to the Nine Networkand footage of his involvement over the years was aired [ [http://today.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=261193 Tribute to Richard ] ] .
