Bayonne High School (BHS) is a four-year community public high school (grades 9-12) located in Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey. The school is operated by the Bayonne Board of Education.

As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 3,005 students and 192.5 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student-teacher ratio of 15.6. [ Bayonne High School] , National Center for Education Statistics. Accessed November 6, 2007.]

The school was the 248th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in "New Jersey Monthly" magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools". The school was ranked 273rd in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state. The school was created in 1936, when the Sweeney Senior High School and the Pulaski Vocational / Technical School were established. The technical school occupied what is now the vocational wing of BHS. The two schools were officially amalgamated in 1953. In 1973, the school was reorganized into six houses.

After an incident in 1997 in which [ two students were stabbed] , one fatally wounded, the school instituted wide ranging measures to reduce violence, from discussion groups to metal detectors. In 2000, it was reported to be known as a model of school safety. Bayonne High School is well endowed with a hodgepodge of facilities and a large campus. It is divided logically into six houses and has the only high school ice rink in all of New Jersey. Also located in the ice rink building are a gymnasium, offices, bathrooms, indoor track, and workout/ meeting rooms. The campus also has an Olympic-sized swimming pool, three gymnasiums, a planetarium, a 600-seat auditorium, four tennis courts, a football stadium, and one baseball field. The campus also has ample parking space and borders the Newark Bay. The high school is sized for approximately 3000 students.


The Bayonne High School Bees compete in the Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic Association (HCIAA), which includes 22 private and parochial high schools in Hudson County. *The Boys Track and Field team coached by Richard Treonze wom the 2002-2003 HCIAA and HCTCA Indoor championships. Later that year the team went on to win the HCTCA outdoor championships. Star standouts that lead the team in victory were Fitz Reynolds running the 400IH, 400M and 800M runs, Russell Huff running the 400IH, 1600M and 3200M runs, Chris Smiga running the 800M and 1600M runs and Roman Zhurmerenka running the 400M and 800M runs.

*The school's football team won the 2002 North I Group IV State Championship under coach Ricardo Rodriguez. Bayonne High School was used as a shooting location for several films and television productions:
*Some scenes from the Nickelodeon television show "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" were shot in Bayonne. Scenes that took place in Wellsville High School were shot in Bayonne High School and P.S. #14.
*The 1996 TV show "Matt Waters" starring Montel Williams, with Williams portraying a fictional high school teacher, was filmed almost entirely in Bayonne, with scenes shot at Bayonne High School.
*An Episode of NBC's "Third Watch" concerning school violence was filmed in the halls of BHS.
*MTV's reality-show "True Life: I'm A High School Senior" filmed at Bayonne High School in early 2003 following Bayonne students Lauren Wanko and Angela Torres.
