"Red Gone Wild...Thee Album" is the 6th full-length studio album from rapper Redman. It was released on March 27, 2007 via Def Jam Recordings.

It is his sixth solo effort to date and his first since 2001's "Malpractice". "Red Gone Wild" features production from Erick Sermon, Timbaland, Scott Storch, Pete Rock, Rockwilder, DJ Clark Kent, and many others. The album had been delayed numerous times by Def Jam and Redman himself, with early promotion dating back to Ghostface Killah's 2004 album, "The Pretty Toney Album". Red stated that he didn't want his album to get under promoted like recent albums from Method Man, Ghostface, and The Roots, which explained the long delay for the release of "Red Gone Wild". He also stated that he was waiting for the right time to drop it in hip hop's fast changing landscape. [ [ MySpaceTV Videos: Redman Blog Check on by A Place For Hip Hop ] ]

The 1st single was "Put It Down" (produced by Timbaland) with additional vocals by DJ Kool.

Music videos

Music videos were shot for "Da Countdown (The Saga Continues)"", which was going to be the 1st single back in 2004, but eventually made its way onto the "Ill At Will Vol. 1 mixtape" due to the album kept being pushed back. There's also a music video for "Fuck Da Security", but was retitled "Rush Da Security"" and can be found on the UK release as a bonus track (uncensored, and not the video).Smack DVD shot a music video for "Gillahouse Check"", which has been praised by many fans as it contains raw uncensored footage.Official videos have been shot for "Put It Down"" featuring a guest appearance by Don Vito (Viva La Bam), and "Get 'Em"" featuring Gilla House artists Saukrates and Icadon.Lesser known videos have also been shot for "Gimmie One"" which was produced by Pete Rock, and "Freestyle Freestyle"" which was shot in Rockland County.Videos can be found on YouTube.Originally, "Freestyle Freestyle" was supposed to be the 1st single, as were "Da Countdown" and "Rush Da Security".Another music video was planned for "Future Thugs" featuring Ghostface Killah, Ludacris and Gilla House artist Icadon (on the hook) directed by famous photographer Jonathan "Xtra Gangsta" Mannion. Later on, another director was mentioned as replacement for Mannion, but it's unknown if the shoot took place. It was supposed to be the 1st single before they were thinking of "Freestyle Freestyle". Eventually "Put It Down" was picked, and "Future Thugs" was left off due to its release two years earlier on vinyl.

Leftover Tracks

Leftover tracks include "I C Dead People"" produced by Eminem, and "Future Thugs"" produced by Black Key and featuring Ghostface Killah, Ludacris & Icadon. In 2005, Redman played an "instrumental" produced by Erick Sermon on his european tour which he described as "hard as hell", but it was never released. He also performed a song titled "Be A Gorilla"" which was never released. He also often performs an "untitled fast spitting joint" with Markie (Mally G), and an "untitled intro". It's unknown if those last two joints were ever supposed to be on the album, or put together for the tour. In 2002 there was talk of guest appearances by Eminem & 50 Cent, Christina Aguilera, and P. Diddy with a release date set as early as March 2003, but not much is known if those songs were ever recorded. In that time period, the album had a rumored title in "Re-Vended". In 2003, Redman told the Source he was going for a different feel then his previous albums with production by Fred Wreck, JellyRoll, and MegaHertz among others. Tracks mentioned were "Car Banga", "Reggie's Got A Gun", and "Blow Your Doors Off".Even though a lot has changed since then, the overall tracks that were supposed to be on the album made it onto the final cut.

In two particular interviews, Red mentioned he did 10 joints with Scott Storch, and 4 with Timbaland. 1 of those Timbaland joints might make it onto "Muddy Waters 2". It's rumored that Red recorded as many as 300 songs (studio) between 2001 and 2007.

Red returned the favour of having Pete Rock produce "Gimme One" on his album by doing a joint titled "Best Believe" for Pete Rock's upcoming album "NY's Finest".

The album leaked onto the Internet on March 22, 2007. Following its release, the album debuted at number 13 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 44,000 copies in its first week.
