Word on the Street

Word on the Street is a book and magazine festival held each September in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Kitchener and Halifax.

Each city's festival features author readings, workshops, information booths and reading and writing-related activities.

Word on the Street was first held in Toronto in 1990. Until 2003, the festival was on a section of Queen Street West in downtown Toronto. In 2004 the festival moved to Queen's Park.

The Halifax event, first held in 1995, takes place at the Cunard Event Centre on the Halifax waterfront.

The Kitchener event takes place at the city's Victoria Park.

The Vancouver event takes place at Library Square.

In 2007, the board of the Calgary event announced that it would not be held in 2008 for logistical reasons.
