Net Take-Off Flight Path

The Net Take-Off Flight Path (NTOFP) is the vertical profile the aircraft, follows after the critical engine failure. The NTOFP is determined from data in the Aeroplane Flight Manual (AFM) and it extends from the screen height of 35 ft to approximately 1500 ft, clearing obstacles by 35 ft.

There are four segments to the NTOFP:

Segment 1.

Gear is down or travelling, flaps at take-off setting, maximum take-off thrust set and speed at V2 or higher.

Segment 2.

Gear up, flap at take-off setting, maximum take-off thrust set and speed at V2 or higher.

Segment 3.

Gear up, flaps reduced in stages till they're completely up, maximum take-off thrust set and speed increasing to the fourth segment speed.

Segment 4.

Gear up, flaps up, maximum continuous thrust, final segment speed.
