Born in India on May 20, 1948, Henry Staunton is a British businessman and the former Finance Director of Granada Group and
The Times2006 Power 100 survey, referred to as "FD Supreme" by Accountancy Age, and rated as one of the magazine's top 50 finance movers and shakers, Staunton is a "well regarded dealmaker" [ The Daily Telegraph, 22 September, 2005] with a long history of big corporate transactions [ The Business, 25 September, 2005] .
He currently sits on the boards of
Ladbrokes, Legal & General, The Merchants Trust plc and Standard Bank.
Granada & ITV
Staunton was appointed to the board of ITV plc on
3 December, 2003after the merger of Granadaand Carlton. Previously he served as the Finance Directorof Granada Group plc, which he joined in 1993.

Staunton's board experience includes non-executive roles as Chairman of
Ashtead Group plc, a plant hire company (1997 – 2004), and as a director of EMAP plc, a consumer magazine and media company. In 2002, Staunton (who had sat on the Emap board since 1995) was forced to resign after a government ruling that he could not be on the board of both Granada and Emap. Price Waterhouseand was admitted as a partner in 1981, later becoming Senior Audit Partner, looking after a number of its major clients including Reutersand Courtaulds.Before joining Price Waterhouse, Staunton attended Exeter Universitybetween 1967 and 1970, reading Economics and Statistics.
