Central (home improvement store)

Central is a home improvement retailer that operates seven locations in Nova Scotia, Canada. The first store opened in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 1976 under the name "Central Supplies". Over the past number of years Central has opened a number of new stores in the big box format. The first big box version of Central opened in 1998 when the New Glasgow, Nova Scotia store moved into a 70,000 sq. ft. former Kmart location. The stores in both Sydney, Nova Scotia and Antigonish were also replaced with new convert|50000|sqft|m2|-3|abbr=on. stores in 2001 and 2005 respectively. The former Antigonish store has been converted into the distribution centre for the chain.

From the mid-90s until 2004 the store was known as "Central Home Improvement Warehouse".
