Cyril Bulley (bishop)

The late Right Reverend Sydney Cyril Bulley [ [ NPG details] ] was born on 12 June 1907 and educated at the University of Durham [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] . He began his ministry as a curate at Newark [ [ Details of Bulley’s time here] ] and was then successively Vicar of Worksop, Rural Dean of Mansfield, "Director of Religious Education" within the Diocese of Carlisle and Archdeacon of Westmoreland before his elevation to the Episcopate, initially as Suffragan to the Bishop of Carlisle (who he in turn succeeded). A noted author [His works include “The Glass of Time”, 1981; “Faith, Fire and Fun”, 1985;and “Glimpses of the Divine”, 1987 - British Library catalogue accessed Monday 11th August, 2008 20:30] and Cumbrian enthusiast [ [ Details of campaign he spearheaded] ] ,he died on 20 November 1989.
