Gary Weil

Gary J. Weil has been a pioneer in Nondestructive testing (NDT) for over 30 years. In 1980, he founded EnTech Engineering, Inc., with corporate headquarters in Saint Louis, Missouri, U.S.A.. EnTech [http://entechworld.com] immediately became a leader in Remote Sensing and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques through his patents and custom equipment. In his position as President and Director of Technical Services, Mr.Weil opts to be a hands-on leader and innovator, having managed over 3,450 (NDT) investigations to date utilizing Infrared Thermography, Ground Penetrating Radar, X-Ray, Pulse-Echo, Magnetic Flux, and Ultrasonics. He has been awarded ten (10) U.S., and International patents, with additional pending worldwide patents for his unique(NDT) and data collection technologies in use at EnTech Engineering.

Combining his engineering education and experience in (NDT), Mr. Weil often works to further the science of Remote Sensing and (NDT) through his association memberships, published papers, and work in developing standards in (NDT) approved and accepted worldwide. Mr. Weil’s memberships include the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT), American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM), and Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE). As a member of the ASNT personnel certification committee, Mr. Weil was one of the members responsible for writing the new Level III Infrared Thermographic Technician Certification Program. Mr. Weil has presented over 70 International technical papers eg. [http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1990SPIE.1313...47G] based upon remote sensing technologies and co-authored the 1998 "American Society of Non-Destructive Testing(ASNT) Handbook on Leak Testing, Volume 1" as well as the 1991 and 2003 "CRC Press Handbooks on the Nondestructive Testing of Concrete". He has represented the National Science Foundation (NSF) at infrastructure maintenance conferences in Scotland and in the U.S.A.. The National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, the Battelle Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Defense call on Mr.Weil’s expertise when assessing technology grants.

In 1995 the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing awarded Mr.Weil the prestigious John I. Davidson Award [http://www.asprsfoundation.org] for Development of Practical Uses for New Technologies and in 1996, the American Bar Association awarded Mr. Weil the Missouri Inventor of the Year Award. The Davidson Award was presented to Mr. Weil for his development of a practical method of fusing Infrared Thermographic and Ground Penetrating Radar data to facilitate the accurate remote sensing and delineation of wastewater, water, oil, gas and chemical pipeline problems.

Mr. Weil is a Registered Professional Engineer [http://www.nspe.org] in Missouri, Illinois, and Texas having acquired a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the General Motor’s Institute of Management and Engineering (now Kettering University) in Flint Michigan and a double Masters Degree in Business and Marketing from Webster University of St.Louis, Missouri.
