John Tuson Bennett
John Tucson Bennett (born
26 July ,1944 ) is a solicitor and president of the Australian Civil Liberties Union, who is most notable for being a leader in theHolocaust denial movement inAustralia .Bennett graduated with honors from the
University of Melbourne in bothlaw (1958) andarts (1966) and subsequently worked for over 20 years from 1974 to 1996 in theVictorian Legal Aid Commission . He also helped establish the theVictorian Council for Civil Liberties (nowLiberty Victoria ) 1966 and serviced as its secretary until 1980. After his expulsion from the group, he went on to start an organization called theAustralian Civil Liberties Union , which has been characterized as "one of Victoria's foremost racist and Holocaust denying organizations."
