teichoic acid

teichoic acid
Acidic polymers (glycerol or ribitol linked by phosphodiester bridges) found in cell wall of Gram positive bacteria. May constitute 10-50% of wall dry weight and are cross-linked to peptidoglycan. Related to lipoteichoic acid.
