glucose-6-phosphate

glucose-6-phosphate
Phosphomonoester of glucose that is formed by transfer of phosphate from ATP, catalysed by the enzyme hexokinase. It is an intermediate both of the glycolytic pathway (next converted to fructose-6-phosphate), and of the NADPH-generating pentose phosphate pathway.
