infectious dropsy
an acute haemorrhagic viral infection of Cyprinidae, in particular of cultured Cyprinus carpio, usually appearing in spring. Symptoms include loss of coordination and equilibrium, popeyes, swollen belly, inflamed and swollen vent, and oedema and haemorrhages of various organs. Also called spring viraemia. See also bacterial haemorrhagic septicaemia
