2) supramaxilla (the dermal bone(s) on the upper side of the posterior end of the maxilla. Salmonidae have one supramaxilla while Sternoptychidae have two. Lost in more advanced Teleostei. Also called supramaxillary, surmaxilla, surmaxillary and jugal)
