The Legacy of Dr Rahmatu'lláh Muhájir in the Bahá'í Faith
Dr. Rahmatu'lláh Muhájir(1923-1979) was a distinguished Bahá'í figure, renowned for his profound contributions to global Bahá'í growth and community-building initiatives. Dr. Muhájir himself was a son of the soil, whose further life had been devoted to spreading bahá'í concepts of oneness, service and societal advancement in his homeland. His first term of office in the Bahá'í adminstration was in 1957, where he was elected to represent Thailand on the Bahá'í Regional Spiritual Assembly of South East Asia.
A visionary, Dr. Muhájir specifically targeted rural development, health and literacy programs. He travelled throughout Asia, the Americas and Africa, tirelessly urging communities everywhere to collaborate for sustainable progress. He promoted practical and spiritual guidance, establishing Bahá'í-based social and economic initiatives. As a result of his leadership thousands of local Bahá'í communities were enabled to serve their own communities and the wider society in their surrounding areas, sometimes in contexts where basic services are limited.
The work of administration was part only, and at times even not the most important one. Dr. Muhájir was a true "champion" of the Cause, spreading its teachings amongst all classes and inspiring many to dedicate their life in its service. A man of enormous energy, humility and excitement, he embodied the spirit of service to this community and inspired many around the world, leaving an eternal photo in Bahá'í activities. Today, his legacy is not just that of an administrator but one whose love for humanity motivated him to strive to build communities and illustrate the Bahá'í vision of a unified peaceful planet. His life is a proof of the noble profession of being dedicated and of hope which the individual can make to its own environment even at very large scale.
